Monday (22/8), Dema Justicia (the FH UGM Student Executive Board) held its second Legal Outreach session on the theme "Systematics of Land Inheritance Distribution under Islamic Inheritance Law."This session was part of Dema Justicia's Fostered Village (Desa Binaan) program. Held at the Merdikorejo Village Hall, the event was attended by 32 participants from the village administration, including hamlet heads and members of the PKK working group (a village women's welfare organization).
The event opened with remarks from Agus Prasetyo, Head of Merdikorejo Village, followed by remarks from Oki Ridwan Gunawan, Chair of the Fostered Village program's organizing committee.
The speaker for this session was Dr. Destri Budi Nugraheni, S.H., M.Si., a lecturer from FH UGM's Department of Islamic Law. She explained that common family law issues in society include polygamy, divorce, marriage, and inheritance, noting that inheritance distribution for Muslims must follow Islamic law. She went on to outline the key elements and principles of Islamic inheritance law.
After the presentation, the session continued with a Q&A segment and an interactive quiz, in which the MC posed questions to selected participants, with door prizes awarded to those who answered correctly. Going forward, Merdikorejo will become an ongoing fostered village under Dema Justicia FH UGM, supervised and guided by the Faculty of Law, with the hope that its residents will become increasingly educated and legally aware in their daily lives.
