Banyuroto, June 22, 2023 -- On Thursday, June 22, 2023, the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with Kejati DIY, held a legal outreach session titled "Datun Suluh Praja" at Banyuroto Village, Kulon Progo. The session aimed to give village officials and local residents a stronger understanding of the management of Wedi Kengser (riverbank deposit land).
For this session, the UGM Faculty of Law and Kejati DIY brought in resource persons with relevant expertise in environmental law and tax law. Dr. Dinarjati Eka Puspitasari, S.H., M.Hum. provided explanation and insight into the environmental law aspects relating to the management of Wedi Kengser, while Dr. Irine Handika Ikasari, S.H., LL.M. addressed the tax law aspects relating to this management.
This session was attended by village officials of Banyuroto, as well as residents interested in gaining a deeper understanding of Wedi Kengser management. Participants were given explanations on the importance of environmental sustainability, the regulations governing Wedi Kengser management, and the related legal and tax implications.
Throughout the session, active discussion took place between the resource persons and participants. Questions from participants were answered clearly and in detail by the resource persons, providing a stronger understanding for all those present.
With the conclusion of the Datun Suluh Praja Legal Outreach session in Banyuroto, it is hoped that community awareness and knowledge regarding the importance of Wedi Kengser management will continue to grow. The community is expected to help preserve the environment and comply with the applicable regulations governing Wedi Kengser management. The UGM Faculty of Law and Kejati DIY remain committed to continuing to carry out legal outreach activities of this kind to provide a stronger understanding to the public. It is hoped that through similar events, sustainable environmental management can be achieved, and the area surrounding Wedi Kengser can be preserved for future generations.
