The Faculty of Law marked the opening of its 78th Dies Natalis celebrations with a religious lecture (pengajian) and communal prayer on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. The event brought together the entire Faculty community, academic staff, administrative staff, students, and retirees.
The theme chosen for this year's Dies Natalis is "Caring for the Environment Through Religious Awareness," reflecting SDG 15 on Life on Land. The religious lecture was delivered by Nyai Nisya Saadah Wargadipura, Leader of the Ath-Thaariq Ecological Islamic Boarding School (Pondok Pesantren Ekologi Ath-Thaariq) in Garut. The Dies Natalis series was opened by Adrianto Dwi Nugroho, S.H., Adv.LLM., LL.D., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Partnerships.
The events for the 78th Anniversary of the Faculty of Law was officially opened by Adrianto Dwi Nugroho, S.H., Adv.LLM., LL.D., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Cooperation.
In her lecture, Nyai Nisya discussed the concept of the natural environment as presented in the Quran specifically, the idea of nature as the space in which human life unfolds. This carries with it a profound responsibility: human beings are obligated to preserve the balance of nature and prevent its destruction. As God's stewards on earth (khalifah), humans are not permitted to cause harm; rather, they are called to build a life that is peaceful and beneficial to all. Placing ecological discourse within the teachings of Islam and everyday human life, she argued, can serve as a driver of sustainable development.
