On Wednesday (27/7), the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM), held a release ceremony for 114 postgraduate graduates from Period IV of the 2015/2016 academic year. Among them, 22 graduates received the cum laude distinction. Ratih Andrawina Suminar and Agung Rakhaniawan achieved the highest GPA of 3.96. Meanwhile, Dimas Dwi Arso completed his studies in the shortest period, taking one year, seven months, and 11 days. The youngest graduate was Ayu Cahyani Sirait, who graduated at the age of 23 years, one month, and 22 days. All four graduates were from the Master of Laws Program.

Agung, who was chosen to represent his fellow graduates, expressed his honor and pride at having studied at one of the world's leading universities. He described the graduation release ceremony as an indicator of the graduates' successful completion of their studies at FH UGM.

“Behind this achievement, however, lies the next step: fulfilling our responsibility to contribute to making our country better, particularly in addressing the public's crisis of confidence in the legal system,” he said.

Agung further emphasized that their contribution to Indonesia should continue after graduation while upholding one of UGM's longstanding characteristics: simplicity and humility.

Prof. M. Hawin, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D., congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to remain grateful for their achievements. He urged the graduates to apply the knowledge they had acquired during their studies at FH UGM for the benefit of society. He also reminded them that UGM is a people-oriented university that stands with vulnerable communities. “Provide explanations [regarding legal issues] to those who need them,” he added.

Prof. Hawin also encouraged the graduates to continue working hard and expressed his hope that they would be able to compete, at least at the Southeast Asian level. Finally, the Dean of the Faculty of Law UGM reminded the graduates to uphold integrity and honesty in their professional lives.
