The Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM) held a retirement ceremony for one of its senior faculty members from the Department of Agrarian Law, Prof. Dr. Nurhasan Ismail, S.H., M.Si., on Thursday, August 28, 2025. The event was held in a warm and family-like atmosphere and was attended by the leadership, faculty members, and administrative staff of FH UGM.
Also present at the event were the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dahliana Hasan, S.H., M.Tax., Ph.D.; the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Cooperation, Adrianto Dwi Nugroho, S.H., Adv.LL. M., LL.D.; the Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources, Prof. Dr. Mailinda Eka Yuniza, S.H., LL.M.; and the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Information Systems, Dr. Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., LL.M., M.A. The event was also attended by the Chair of the Department of Agrarian Law, Dr. Jur. Any Andjarwati, S.H., M.Jur.
In an atmosphere filled with respect and emotion, the leadership and fellow faculty members reflected on Prof. Nurhasan’s long journey of service at the UGM Faculty of Law. They shared various memories, impressions, and the dynamics of their collaboration over the years.
Prof. Dr. Nurhasan Ismail himself is an alumnus of the UGM Faculty of Law, having completed his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees at the same faculty. His dedication is reflected in the various key positions he held during his career at the UGM Faculty of Law, including:
- Associate Dean II, Faculty of Law, UGM (1998–2001)
- Finance Coordinator for the Master’s Programs in Business Law and Constitutional Law (2001–2002)
- Chair of the Agrarian Law Division (2007–2011)
- Chair of the Master of Law Program at the Jakarta Campus (2013–2015)
- Chair of the Audit Committee at Gadjah Mada University (2013–2018)
- Chair of the Senate of the Faculty of Law, UGM (2021–2026)
His contributions in the academic, managerial, and institutional spheres have been immense, making him a figure who is respected and remembered by the entire academic community. The UGM Faculty of Law expresses its highest appreciation for the dedication, knowledge, and exemplary leadership provided by Prof. Dr. Nurhasan Ismail, S.H., M.Si.
Prof. Dr. Nurhasan Ismail’s dedication also holds significant meaning in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through his work in legal education, he has contributed to the achievement of SDG 4 (Quality Education) by ensuring the provision of higher education that is inclusive and relevant to the advancement of legal scholarship. Furthermore, his service in various strategic positions has helped strengthen institutional governance at the UGM Faculty of Law, which aligns with SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). Thus, his work and academic legacy not only benefit the academic community but also support broader sustainable development goals.
