96 students from Master of Litigation and Business Law attended the freshmen orientation for odd semester academic year 2024/2025. This event took place on Saturday (3/8/2024) in Master of Law Faculty of Law UGM building (Jakarta Campus). This orientation was attended by Vice Dean for Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation of the Faculty of Law UGM, Head of Study Program, Secretary of Study Program, Chair of KMMIH, educational staff, and all new students.
The event started at 09.00 with opening remarks from Vice Dean for Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation, Adrianto Dwi Nugroho, S.H., Adv.LLM., LLD. In his speech, he explained about the importance of access to education as the fundamental rights in empowering individuals and communities. This statement emphasized the commitment of the university to provide a qualified education and create an inclusive environment.
The second opening remarks was from Head of Study Program, Dr. Ninik Darmini, S.H., M.Hum, who provided an introduction to the Faculty of Law UGM and the MIH UGM Study Program (Jakarta Campus). Ninik Darmini explained about the objectives of the program and the importance of the legal counseling, strengthening the idea that education is an important tool for a social improvement and development.
Afterwards, Dr. Agustina Merdekawati, S.H., LL.M. presented the academic activities in Faculty of Law UGM and the lectures mechanism in MIH UGM (Jakarta Campus). Agustina explained the curriculum structure and the opportunities available for the students to participate in research and practices experiences, emphasized the importance of a comprehensive education.
The orientation then proceeded with the explanation on the supporting system for the academic activities, including: (1) Information Technology in Faculty of Law UGM by Ahmad Kailani, S.Si.; (b) Academic Information System in Simaster by Faijun Sabildin, S.Kom; and (c) Library System by Nova Indah Wijayanti, S.IP. These session were designed to introduce the students to the available resources.
During the presentation of support systems, several important points regarding the easy access and Information Technology explore services, academic resources, and the library were introduced to the students. The facilitators emphasized that these systems are built to improve their academic experiences and to support students in pursuing their academic goals.
The freshmen were actively engaged in question and answer sessions, where they asked questions regarding the lecture mechanisms along with the Information Technology and library that provided by UGM. This involvement showed their enthusiasm in understanding the academic environment and utilizing the resources properly.
This orientation was not only to become the introduction to the academic framework, but also to build a bond between the new students. This event gave an opportunity for the students to be connected with one another and with their lecturers, setting up the collaboration and support throughout their study.
When the event was over, the freshmen left the location with enthusiasm and anticipation for the upcoming academic year. This orientation affirms the university commitment in ensuring the access for qualified education to chase for success.
