In preparation for the event, LGS conducted a literature review on the issues frequently faced by women as internet users. LGS found that there is a trend of online loan scams, e-commerce platform scams, personal data theft, and electronic-based sexual violence experienced by women. Using this classification, the researchers distributed a survey and assisted participants in completing it as a way to map the issues faced by PEKKA Bantul members. The survey was followed by a focus group discussion to gain a deeper understanding of the context of the issues faced by the participants, including those not yet identified through the survey.
The event involved three faculty members from the UGM Faculty of Law: Sri Wiyanti Eddyono, S.H., LL.M. (HR), Ph.D.; Annisa Syaufika Y.R., S.H., M.H.; and Diantika Rindam Floranti, S.H., LL.M. These three faculty members were assisted by six students serving as research assistants. PEKKA sent 14 members of PEKKA Bantul to participate in the event.

During the FGD, participants were also given the opportunity to share their opinions on the outreach activities to be conducted, so that they would be appropriate and meet the participants’ expectations. Participants stated that following the survey and FGD, PEKKA Bantul plans to invite representatives from the village or subdistrict government. According to the participants, there are currently 32 groups affiliated with PEKKA Bantul, spread across several subdistricts—including Bangutapan, Pleret, Jetis, Imogiri, and Selandaan—so the estimated number of participants for the upcoming outreach sessions is 75 people.
LGS extends its gratitude to PEKKA Bantul, particularly to the participants who were willing to take part in the research and discuss the community service activities to be carried out.
