On Friday (October 24, 2025), the Law Career Development Center (LCDC) at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University, successfully held an orientation session for prospective graduates of the Bachelor’s Program for the first graduation period of the 2025–2026 academic year. This event is a regular LCDC program held ahead of each graduation period at UGM. The purpose of this event is to equip prospective graduates with insights into the job recruitment process, career opportunities and challenges for law graduates, as well as strategies for success in job selection processes.
On this occasion, the orientation session featured the theme “From FH UGM to Your Dream Job #14: Career Opportunities for Law Graduates in International Organizations,” with an experienced guest speaker, Andrean Sangabie Sancaya, who serves as the National Program Officer for Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling at UNODC. The event, moderated by Nabiyla Risfa Izzati, S.H., LL.M.(Adv), proceeded smoothly.
In his presentation, Abi—as the speaker is affectionately known—not only explained the roles and positions of law graduates in international organizations but also shared firsthand experiences regarding his responsibilities at UNODC. In addition, Abi explained the recruitment process, the required competencies, and opportunities for law graduates to work on global issues through the UN platform and other multilateral organizations.
The participants’ enthusiasm was evident throughout the event, particularly during the question-and-answer session that concluded the orientation series. This orientation aligns with and supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, the event contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education by enhancing career literacy, improving access to global information, and strengthening students’ readiness for the transition into the professional workforce. Second, this program reinforces SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by providing strategic insights so that law graduates can secure decent, globally competitive jobs and help drive economic growth through participation in international institutions. Thus, this preparatory program not only equips graduates to face career challenges but also reaffirms the Faculty of Law at UGM’s commitment to producing legal professionals who contribute to sustainable development at both the national and global levels.
