The Graduate Law Students' Association (Keluarga Mahasiswa Magister Ilmu Hukum/KMMIH) at the UGM Jakarta Campus held its annual Futsal Competition on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Planet Futsal in the Gelanggang Remaja Soemantri Brodjonegoro area, Kuningan, Central Jakarta.
The event was attended by dozens of lawyers from Jakarta and its surroundings, as well as students from the UGM Master of Laws Program at the Jakarta Campus. They competed with full sportsmanship on the futsal court, vying for the annual trophy presented by the KMMIH. The competition was opened by senior advocate and UGM Jakarta Campus MIH lecturer Jamaslin James Purba.
In his remarks, James described the annual event as highly positive for UGM students and the community at large. "This is an annual event that must continue -- we will always support its continuation"
KMMIH Jakarta Chair, Untung Kuniadi, described the event as a demonstration of the importance of solidarity, togetherness, and building bonds of brotherhood between current students and alumni. "We want events like this to be refreshing, health-promoting, and a celebration of sportsmanship"
The competition was contested by 12 teams from various backgrounds, all with law degrees -- from advocates to those in corporate roles. Participating teams included MIH Batch 29 Jakarta, MIH Class 35 Jakarta, MIH Class 36 Jakarta, MIH Class 37 Jakarta, MIH Class 38 Jakarta, Pertamina Retail, the IKA Universitas Hasanuddin Faculty of Law Alumni Association Jabodetabek (IKA FH UNHAS), the IKA Universitas Muslim Indonesia Jabodetabek (IKA UMI), as well as teams from the Rooster Law Office and the James Purba Partner Law Firm (JPP) from PERADI Central Jakarta. The 12 teams competed for first place (Rp 1 million), runner-up (Rp 750,000), and third place (Rp 500,000). The top goal scorer was awarded a cash prize of Rp 200,000.
The champion was the IKA FH UNHAS Jabodetabek team, following a dramatic penalty shootout. The two regulation halves of 10 minutes each ended 0-0, and the first round of penalties also ended in a draw at 2-2. In the second round of sudden-death penalties, the IKA FH UMI-B Jabodetabek team shot first but was saved by the IKA FH UNHAS goalkeeper. Under sudden-death rules, IKA FH UNHAS was declared champion. Runner-up went to IKA FH UMI Jabodetabek, with third place going to the James Purba Partner (JPP) Law Firm team.
At the closing ceremony, Competition Committee Chair Refi Rahreza thanked all those who had supported the event, and extended a warm welcome to all teams for their presence and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
