Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat KMMIH UGM Bersama Perempuan Kepala Keluarga (PEKKA) Bantul
Bantul – The UGM Family of Master of Law Students (KMMIH UGM) held a discussion with the Women-Headed Family Empowerment (PEKKA) community in Bantul on Sunday (2/12/2018). The event, which was attended by PEKKA members and local residents, focused on three main topics: Brave and Independent Women, Land Legality, and Good Cooperative Management. The discussion was held at the PEKKA Bantul secretariat and featured three speakers from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM)
The discussion began with the first topic, “Brave and Independent Women,” presented by Sri Wiyanti Eddyono, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D., who discussed Law No. 23 of 2004 on the Elimination of Domestic Violence. In her presentation, Sri Wiyanti emphasized the importance of understanding the Domestic Violence Law among women, particularly housewives, as well as the role of the community in recognizing signs of domestic violence in their surroundings. In addition to internal factors, external factors also play an important role in law enforcement in domestic violence cases. Therefore, members of the community are encouraged to take an active role and report any acts that may constitute domestic violence to the relevant authorities.
Another speaker, Khoirun Ni’mah, M.A., representing the child and victim protection organization Rifka Annisa, explained the organization’s efforts to protect women and children who experience domestic violence. She also emphasized the importance of seeking assistance from organizations specializing in the protection of women and children when experiencing domestic violence. Such assistance can provide victims with legal support as well as emotional support throughout the process of addressing their cases.
The discussion also covered the topic of “Good Cooperative Management.” Uni Tsulasi Putri, S.H., explained the principles of well-managed cooperatives and how they should be administered to ensure that their operations comply with applicable regulations.
Another topic discussed was “Land Legality,” presented by Rafael Edy Bosko, S.H., M.IL. He emphasized the importance of legally registering land and obtaining land certificates as valid evidence of land ownership.
Cerdas Dwi, S.H., as the event coordinator, expressed hope that the discussion between KMMIH UGM and PEKKA would broaden the legal knowledge of PEKKA members and local residents, particularly regarding domestic violence, land legality, and proper cooperative management.
