The Doctoral Program in Law at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (PDIH FH UGM) organized a Consignment Meeting and Structured Supervision Program on Monday (2/2/2026) in Room B.5.5, Building B, 5th Floor, FH UGM. The event brought together Promotor Teams and doctoral students from the Class of 2020 to establish a mutually agreed timeline for completing their studies, an important step in supporting their academic progress. This initiative reflects the program’s commitment to accelerating study completion in accordance with the latest higher education quality assurance regulations.
The event commenced with remarks from Prof. Adrianto Dwi Nugroho, S.H., Adv.LL.M., LL.D., who expressed his appreciation for the attendance of both the Promotor Teams and students despite their demanding schedules. He emphasized that the program represents the institution’s full support in ensuring that every student is able to complete their dissertation in a timely manner. Through this initiative, FH UGM seeks to foster stronger collaboration in identifying research challenges and developing effective solutions to support students’ dissertation progress.
The program continued with remarks and guidance from Prof. M. Hawin, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D., Head of the Study Program, who encouraged the Class of 2020 students to remain focused on completing their dissertation research before the deadline of 31 July 2026. A similar message was conveyed by Dr. Dian Agung Wicaksono, S.H., LL.M., who reminded participants that the deadline represents the maximum allowable period for study completion and should not be regarded as a justification for compromising research quality. Students were encouraged to uphold academic integrity and maintain the depth of legal analysis in their dissertations in order to produce high-quality scholarly work.
The event then proceeded with a discussion and question-and-answer session aimed at collectively mapping the progress of each student’s dissertation research. During the session, students presented updates on their research developments and discussed the challenges they encountered, ranging from the need to update field data to adjusting their analyses in response to recent regulatory developments. The program continued with structured supervision sessions, during which students met directly with their respective Promotor Teams to present their latest research findings or dissertation drafts and receive detailed feedback, corrections, and recommendations.
In line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this initiative contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening academic mentoring and supervision. The promotion of high-quality dissertation research that supports the development of legal institutions and justice systems also aligns with SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). Furthermore, the partnership between students and Promotor Teams throughout the program reflects the spirit of intergenerational collaboration in advancing knowledge, as envisioned by SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Through PDIH, FH UGM remains fully committed to supporting students as they navigate the dynamic challenges of legal research in an era of ongoing legal transformation. The event concluded with a renewed collective commitment to completing doctoral studies in accordance with the agreed targets and timelines. Through initiatives such as this, PDIH is optimistic about producing outstanding legal scholars whose work will generate meaningful contributions to society.
