Swinburne Law School visited the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), on Tuesday, 9 July 2019. The visit was part of a two-week study tour organized by Swinburne Law School in Indonesia.
The visit featured a workshop delivered by lecturers from the Faculty of Law UGM. The workshop, which was held from morning until afternoon, covered three topics. The first was “Introduction to Indonesian Law,” presented by Sri Wiyanti Eddyono, S.H., LL.M. (HR), Ph.D. from the Department of Criminal Law. The second was “Adat Law,” presented by Sartika Intaning Pradhani, S.H., M.H. from the Department of Adat Law. The final topic, “Indonesian Constitutional Law and Human Rights,” was presented by Andy Omara, S.H., M.Pub&Int.Law., Ph.D. from the Department of Constitutional Law.
The event opened with a warm welcome from the Dean of the Faculty of Law UGM, Prof. Dr. Sigit Riyanto, S.H., LL.M., and a representative of Swinburne Law School, Dr. Jeremy Kingsley. Prof. Sigit Riyanto emphasized the importance of cooperation between Indonesia and Australia, while Dr. Jeremy Kingsley highlighted the importance of enabling Australian law students to gain a better understanding of Indonesian law.
The visit concluded with a Welcome Dinner held at Wisma MM UGM. The dinner was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Law UGM, Prof. Dr. Sigit Riyanto, S.H., LL.M.; workshop speaker Andy Omara, S.H., M.Pub&Int.Law., Ph.D.; representatives of the Partnership and Development Unit, Irna Nurhayati, S.H., M.H., LL.M., Ph.D., Dr. Ninik Darmini, S.H., M.H., and Taufiq Adiyanto, S.H., LL.M.; as well as representatives and students from Swinburne Law School. The event began with brief remarks from representatives of both law schools and continued in a relaxed atmosphere.
This visit marked the third time Swinburne Law School had visited the Faculty of Law UGM since the collaboration began in 2016. Moving forward, both the Faculty of Law UGM and Swinburne Law School hope to further strengthen and expand their cooperation.
