The Hokkaido Indonesian Student Association Scientific Meeting is a conference for students from around the world to present their research findings and developments on the theme “Integrated Science for Improving Disaster Risk Management in Indonesia.” The event was organized by the Indonesian Students Association in Hokkaido. This international conference brought together student researchers to participate in a forum for discussing and presenting original research, new innovations, research developments, and focused experiments aimed at improving the quality of life and well-being of Indonesian communities.
This year, the Indonesian Students Association in Hokkaido held its 16th international conference, featuring the subthemes Health and Life Science; Innovation of Science and Technology; Environmental and Social Impact Assessment; and Agriculture and Food Security. The conference was held at the Graduate School of Environmental Science, Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, on 16 March 2019.
Of more than 150 papers submitted to the conference from 27 universities across four countries, only 41 papers were selected for presentation and publication. The UGM delegation, consisting of Reski Amalia (Faculty of Law, 2015), Eisa Akbar (Faculty of Law, 2014), Vowas Gamar Bawanto (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, 2015), and Gigich Ilmy Al Bonadi, was among the teams whose paper was selected for presentation. Their paper, entitled “Problems of Chilong Society’s Citizenship in Indonesia–Papua New Guinea Borderland,” was presented at the conference and successfully earned the Best Presenter award in the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment category.
