The Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM) hosted the 2025 Monash University Law Indonesia Alliance (MULIA) Annual Meeting, which took place on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
This annual meeting serves as a strategic forum bringing together deans and/or associate deans from MULIA member law schools to discuss the future direction and strengthening of the partnership.
MULIA itself was established in 2023 as a platform for equal collaboration between Monash University and seven law faculties in Indonesia, including Airlangga University, Hasanuddin University, the University of Indonesia, Padjadjaran University, Pelita Harapan University, Sam Ratulangi University, and Gadjah Mada University.
This year’s MULIA Annual Meeting focused on the development of clinical and experiential legal education, as well as fostering academic and research collaboration relevant to global legal challenges.

This meeting served as a key opportunity for law school deans to strengthen cross-institutional synergy and develop long-term collaboration plans in the areas of academics, research, and legal curriculum development.
Through the MULIA 2025 event, the UGM Faculty of Law, together with all alliance members, reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international cooperation and building a collaborative and globally competitive legal education network.
Hosting the Monash University Law Indonesia Alliance (MULIA) Annual Meeting 2025 at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM) aligns with the commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Through this forum, FH UGM, together with the alliance’s member universities, strengthens cross-border academic cooperation to create high-quality, inclusive legal education that is oriented toward social justice. This event also serves as a tangible manifestation of global collaboration among legal education institutions in building institutional capacity, expanding access to experiential legal learning, and advancing joint research that supports the development of a robust, ethical, and responsive legal system capable of addressing the challenges of the modern world.
