On Thursday (20/6/2026), the Faculty of Law Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM) conducted a training session on the use of waste scales for outsourced cleaning and gardening staff. The activity aimed to enhance the capacity of FH UGM’s environmental management personnel in carrying out waste recording and management more effectively, measurably, and sustainably. The training was led by Andri Kurniawan, A.Md.Akt., staff member of the Office Facilities and Infrastructure Management Unit at FH UGM.
During the training, participants were introduced to the procedures for operating waste scales and implementing a technology-based waste recording system. The utilization of this digital system is expected to support the monitoring process of waste volume and composition generated within the faculty environment, allowing waste management practices at FH UGM to be carried out based on accurate data. The system also supports periodic mapping of waste generation as a foundation for evaluation and improvement of environmental management policies.
This activity contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through the development of a more responsible waste management system and the promotion of efficient resource utilization. In addition, the activity also supports SDG 13 (Climate Action) by strengthening environmental management practices that can reduce the impact of waste on climate change. The improvement of human resource capacity in environmental management reflects FH UGM’s commitment to supporting sustainable development through greener and more sustainable institutional governance.
