As part of its 79th anniversary celebrations, the Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM) held the “Lomba Justicia: Stand-Up Comedy” competition on Monday (February 10, 2025). Held in the Auditorium of Building B at FH UGM, the competition centered on the theme “How Much Do You Know About the UGM Faculty of Law and Its Contributions to Society?” The event served as a platform for participants to deliver humor that was both educational and inspiring.
The competition was attended by members of the FH UGM academic community, ranging from students and support staff to faculty members. Participants were evaluated based on six main criteria: content, stage presence and audience engagement, public speaking skills, fluency, originality, and the use of ineffective language.
The judging panel consisted of both internal and external judges. The internal judges were Dr. Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., M.A., LL.M., and Dr. Muhammad Fatahillah Akbar, S.H., LL.M., while the external judge was Teguh Nurwantara. In addition to serving as judges, all three also took the stage to perform stand-up comedy routines they had prepared in advance.
After a fierce competition, here are the winners of the Justicia: Stand-Up Comedy Contest:
- 1st Place: Zaviera Rida Faisa (Student)
- 2nd Place: Enang Suhartono (Academic Staff)
- 3rd Place: Dr. Totok Dwi Diantoro, S.H., LL.M. (Lecturer)
- Audience Choice Award: Endah Yusrindari (SKK)
The Justicia: Stand-Up Comedy Competition aims not only to entertain but also to serve as an educational platform that encourages participants and the audience to better understand the UGM Faculty of Law and its role in society. Through a comedic approach, legal issues can be presented in a lighthearted manner while still providing insights for the academic community.
Furthermore, this event aligns with the objectives of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 and 4. SDG 3, which focuses on health and well-being, is reflected in the aspect of mental health, where humor serves as a means to reduce stress and enhance emotional well-being. Meanwhile, SDG 4, which emphasizes quality education, is incorporated into this competition as part of a creative learning method—one that not only enhances participants’ public speaking skills but also provides a broader understanding of the UGM Faculty of Law and its role in social life.
Through the “Justicia: Stand-Up Comedy” Competition, the UGM Faculty of Law remains committed to creating an educational, innovative, and enjoyable academic environment for the entire academic community. It is hoped that similar activities can continue to be developed as part of a more inclusive and interactive learning strategy.
