On Wednesday (November 26, 2025), the UGM Faculty of Law, through its Legal Aid Consultation Center (PKBH), in collaboration with the Yogyakarta Class II Special Juvenile Correctional Facility, successfully held a legal education session. This session aimed to provide legal knowledge to the participants—youth in conflict with the law—regarding common legal issues. This session focused on the themes of “Drugs” and “Child Marriage” to provide insights into the prevention of drug use and child marriage from a legal perspective.
The event began at 9:30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time with the singing of the national anthem, “Indonesia Raya.” It then continued with opening remarks from the Head of the Class II Special Juvenile Correctional Institution in Yogyakarta, Supar, A.Md.Ip., S.Sos., M.H. Next, presentations were delivered by Dr. Dra. Dani Krisnawati, S.H., M.Hum., a lecturer from the Department of Criminal Law at the UGM Faculty of Law, and Dr. Destri Budi Nugraheni, S.H., M.Si., a lecturer from the Department of Islamic Law at the UGM Faculty of Law.
The first presentation, titled “Turn Over a New Leaf, Build a Drug-Free Future,” was delivered by Dani Krisnawati, who explained the types of drugs and how to prevent their use. Next, the second presentation, titled “Early Marriage: What Does the Law Say?” was delivered by Destri Budi Nugraheni, who discussed the dangers of and ways to prevent early marriage. All speakers actively participated in a question-and-answer session with the inmates. The majority of the questions focused on the legal provisions regarding early marriage.
The presentations by both speakers were delivered in an interactive and engaging manner, leading to a productive discussion. The guest lecturers also answered participants’ questions clearly and provided practical solutions. It is hoped that this legal outreach program will contribute to achieving Goal 3 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—ensuring good health and well-being—and Goal 16—promoting peace, justice, and strong institutions.
