FH UGM and Kejati DIY Finalize Collaboration Plan for 2026 Community Service Activities

On Monday, December 22, 2025, the Faculty of Law at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM) held a follow-up coordination meeting with the High Prosecution Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (Kejati DIY), the Nayantaka Association of DIY Province, the Badranaya Association of Kulon Progo Regency, and the Semar Association of Gunungkidul Regency.

FH UGM was represented by the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Information Systems, Prof. Dr. Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., LL.M., M.A.; the Head of the Consultation and Legal Aid Center (PKBH), Dr. Yulkarnain Harahab, S.H., M.Si.; PKBH Secretary I, Virga Dwi Efendi, S.H., LL.M.; and two PKBH interns, Sahl Radian Setyaki and Faizal Cahya Adhyaksa. Kejati DIY was represented by the Civil and State Administrative Law Section (Datun). Meanwhile, the associations (Paguyuban) were represented by their respective chairpersons and delegates. The meeting was convened to finalize the cooperation plan for the implementation of the "Datun Suluh Praja" Legal Counseling activities. 

The coordination meeting resulted in an agreement between the parties to share roles in a fair and planned manner to ensure the smooth execution of the program. In 2026, the Datun Suluh Praja Legal Counseling will be carried out in two phases, involving 10 Kalurahan (Villages) in each phase. Furthermore, the implementation will focus specifically on the Kulon Progo and Gunungkidul Regencies. The involvement of these various Kalurahan is supported by the commitment of every association (Paguyuban) involved in the planning process. Phase I will focus on the theme of Assistance in Drafting Village Regulations (Peraturan Kalurahan) in various villages receiving the Village Regulation Assistance Grant. Phase II will feature themes adjusted to the specific needs of the relevant Kalurahan. 

This collaboration in Legal Counseling and Village Regulation Drafting represents a tangible form of community service that supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This initiative contributes directly to Goal 16 by promoting peace, justice, and inclusive institutions. Additionally, this synergy reflects Goal 17, where strategic partnerships are built to achieve sustainable development objectives for the future. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Strengthening Substantive Justice: KMHLi UGM Discussion on Justifications and Excuses in the National Criminal Code

The Litigation Law Master’s Family (KMHLi) of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a public discussion on the conceptualization of justifications (alasan pembenar) and excuses (alasan pemaaf) in the National Criminal Code, titled “Justifications and Excuses: Whose Reasons?” on Thursday (30/4) at the Auditorium of Building B, Faculty of Law UGM. The event brought together academics and legal practitioners to examine Articles 31 to 44 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the National Criminal Code before approximately 100 participants.

UGM Faculty of Law Delegation Wins 2nd Place Nationally at the Sam Ratulangi Legal Writing Competition 2026

The Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM), has once again achieved a notable accomplishment through its delegation—Salsabila Zita Amalia (2023), Cut Kayla Layyina (2023), and Fayyaza Naira Hafidz (2023)—who secured 2nd place at the Sam Ratulangi Law Writing Competition 2026, organized by the Legal Writing Center, Faculty of Law, Sam Ratulangi University. This national-level Legal Opinion competition carried the main theme “Legal Modernization in Addressing the Challenges of Digital Technology Towards an Inclusive and Adaptive Legal Ecosystem.”
