UGM continues to strengthen its identity as a World Class Research University (WCU). This is reflected in the various visits made by UGM delegations to reputable universities abroad. One such delegation visit was made to the Faculty of Law, Leiden University, the Netherlands, held on Monday, October 30, 2023.
The delegation was led by the Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed., Sp.OG(K)., Ph.D., along with several other delegation members, including Dean of the UGM Faculty of Law, Dahliana Hasan, S.H., M.Tax., Ph.D., and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Partnerships at the UGM Faculty of Law, Adrianto Dwi Nugroho, S.H., Adv.LL.M., LL.D. On this occasion, Professor Bart Josen of the Faculty of Law, Leiden University, explained that his university offers 8 Master of Advanced Studies in Law programs that hold potential for a double degree partnership with the UGM Faculty of Law. Meanwhile, Professor Armin Cuyvers expressed his interest in establishing staff mobility in the form of seminars or workshops involving faculty from the Faculty of Law, Leiden University. Finally, the possibility of a sandwich program for doctoral students at the UGM Faculty of Law also emerged as a partnership opportunity to be explored further. Under this program, students would be able to conduct research at the Faculty of Law, Leiden University, for a set period of time, in order to complete their dissertation.
The Dean of the UGM Faculty of Law warmly welcomed all three initiatives. This partnership will further strengthen the relationship between the two institutions, which already have an existing partnership in student exchange and collaborative research. It is hoped that the relationship between the two institutions will continue to grow closer and come to encompass the full range of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. This partnership is also hoped to strengthen the international exposure of students and lecturers at the UGM Faculty of Law.
This partnership reflects one form of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - specifically Goal 4, Quality Education, and Goal 17, Partnerships for the Goals.
