Suluh Praja Legal Education in Tridadi Village: Enhancing Knowledge on Labor Law and Village Land Regulations in DIY

Monday, (24/2/2025), the Faculty of Law at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through the Legal Aid Consultation Center (PKBH), in collaboration with the High Prosecutor’s Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), successfully conducted the “Suluh Praja” Legal Education program at the Tridadi Village Office, Sleman District, Sleman Regency, DIY Province. 

This legal education session aimed to provide insights and legal knowledge to the participants, consisting of village officials and the local community, on common legal issues. This edition of Suluh Praja focused on the theme “Labor Law and Village Land,” highlighting the importance of understanding the fundamental principles of labor law and the various provisions of DIY Governor Regulation No. 24 of 2024 on the Utilization of Village Land, which governs land regulations in DIY.

The event commenced at 9:30 AM WIB with the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya. This was followed by a welcoming speech from the Head of Tridadi Village, Mrs. Hj. Sri Hartati, S.Pi. Next, the Assistant for Civil and State Administrative Affairs, Mrs. Fanny Widyastuti, S.H., M.H., along with her team from the DIY High Prosecutor’s Office, delivered an introductory speech and presented an overview of the roles and functions of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia in civil and state administrative matters.

The session continued with an initial presentation by the team from the BPJS Employment (Workers' Social Security Agency), followed by a legal education session delivered by guest lecturers from the Faculty of Law at UGM. Professor Dr. Ari Hernawan, S.H., M.Hum., a Professor of Labor Law at the Faculty of Law UGM, together with Dr. Murti Pramuwardhani Dewi, S.H., M.Hum., covered the topic of “Labor Law,” providing insights into various aspects of labor law, employment agreements, and social security for workers. 

Additionally, another guest lecturer from the Faculty of Law UGM, Dr. Rimawati, S.H., M.Hum., discussed the topic of “Village Land,” offering the latest insights to village officials regarding the new DIY Governor Regulation No. 24 of 2024, which governs the management of village land. All speakers, including representatives from the DIY High Prosecutor’s Office, BPJS Employment, and UGM’s Faculty of Law, actively engaged in a discussion session with village officials.

All speakers delivered the materials interactively and engagingly, facilitating a well-executed discussion. The lecturers also responded to participants' questions clearly and with practical solutions. This legal outreach program is expected to support SDG Goal 8 by promoting decent work and economic growth, Goal 10 by reducing inequalities through the protection of labor rights, and Goal 11 by fostering sustainable cities and communities through proper utilization of village-owned land. Furthermore, it contributes to strengthening an inclusive and peaceful society in line with SDG Goal 16, which aims to promote peace, justice, and strong institutions—starting from village governance. Additionally, this initiative reinforces partnerships to achieve greater goals by SDG Goal 17.
