Faculty of Law UGM Welcomes Students from SMA N 3 Samarinda to Boost Interest in Quality Legal Education

On Wednesday (5/6/2024), the Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) welcomed a group of students from SMA N 3 Samarinda for a study visit aimed at promoting quality education and increasing enrollment in higher education. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the focus on ensuring inclusive and quality education.

The visit was designed to provide high school students with insights into the academic environment and opportunities available at the UGM Faculty of Law. The students were very enthusiastic about learning about the various programs offered, the admissions process, and the overall experience of being a student at one of Indonesia’s leading universities.

Dr. Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., M.A., LL.M., and Dr. Arvie Johan, S.H., M.Hum., served as the main speakers for the event. Both faculty members shared their expertise and experiences, highlighting the importance of legal education in shaping future leaders and professionals. Their engaging presentations successfully captured the students’ attention, sparking their interest in pursuing careers in the legal field.

Accompanying the faculty members were Zam Basir Angga Wibisono, S.I.Kom., and Sawiyati, who served as visit facilitators. They ensured that the students felt comfortable and encouraged them to ask questions throughout the session. This interactive approach fostered a dynamic exchange of ideas and information.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to ask various questions regarding the curriculum, extracurricular activities, and career prospects that come with a law degree from UGM. The professors emphasized the importance of critical thinking, ethics, and social responsibility in the field of law, which is highly relevant to the students.

In line with the SDGs, the UGM Faculty of Law is committed to promoting access to quality education for all. By engaging high school students, the faculty aims to inspire the next generation of legal professionals and encourage them to pursue higher education.

The visit concluded with a feedback session, during which students expressed their appreciation for the informative presentations and the warm welcome they received. Many students stated that they are now more motivated to consider UGM as their choice for higher education.

This initiative not only promotes the Faculty of Law but also contributes to the broader goal of increasing enrollment at higher education institutions across Indonesia. By fostering a culture of learning and curiosity, UGM continues to play a vital role in shaping the future of education in this country.
