UGM Faculty of Law Hosts Learning Visit from SDN 1 Kalasan Students, Introducing Legal Concepts Through a Moot Court.

On Wednesday, January 9, 2024, the Faculty of Law at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) warmly welcomed students from SDN 1 Kalasan for an out-of-classroom learning visit. The initiative aimed to provide an enriching experience for young learners beyond the walls of their school, in line with the SDGs' focus on Quality Education.

The visit was designed to inspire and educate students about the legal system and the role of law in society. Almonika Cindy Fatika Sari, S.H., M.A., a prominent lecturer at the Faculty of Law, served as the main speaker. Her expertise and engaging presentation style brought complex legal concepts down to earth, making them both accessible and interesting to young minds.

Almonika was joined by Tri Rahmat Hidayat, A.Md., and Purwono, who acted as facilitators throughout the visit, ensuring students felt comfortable and were encouraged to ask questions freely.

During the visit, students were also introduced to DEMA Justicia, the Faculty of Law's student organization. DEMA Justicia staged a mock trial (peradilan semu), giving the students a front-row seat to how court proceedings actually work. This hands-on experience not only educated students about legal processes but also sparked genuine curiosity about the field of law.

The moot court proved to be the visit's most memorable moment, bringing the legal concepts discussed earlier to life. This experiential approach to learning is central to promoting quality education it encourages critical thinking and active participation rather than passive reception.

The UGM Faculty of Law is committed to promoting quality education and cultivating a culture of learning that extends beyond the traditional classroom. By hosting visits like this, the faculty aims to inspire the next generation of leaders and thinkers, emphasizing the importance of education in achieving the SDGs.

In her closing remarks, Almonika expressed her hope that the visit would motivate the students to pursue their education with enthusiasm and curiosity, and encouraged them to explore all fields of study, including law as a means of contributing to society and standing up for justice.

On the whole, the study visit from SDN 1 Kalasan to the UGM Faculty of Law was a meaningful step toward promoting quality education and inspiring future generations. It underscored the importance of experiential learning and the role that educational institutions play in building a better future.
