On Friday, July 25, 2025, the Faculty of Law at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through the Legal Aid Consultation Center (PKBH), conducted a legal counseling activity at the Class IIB Women’s Correctional Facility in Yogyakarta. This activity was part of the university’s commitment to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in fulfilling its role of community service.
Kegiatan Penyuluhan Hukum Lapas menghadirkan dua dosen narasumber, yaitu Niken Subekti Budi Utami, S.H., M.Si. dari Departemen Hukum Pidana Fakultas Hukum UGM dan Herliana, S.H., M.ComLaw., Ph.D. dari Departemen Hukum Perdata Fakultas Hukum UGM. Niken memberikan penyuluhan mengenai “Hak-Hak Tahanan dalam Prosedur Beracara sesuai Tinjauan Terbaru Mahkamah Agung” untuk memberikan wawasan kepada para tahanan mengenaihak-hak apa saja yang sepatutnya mereka dapatkan selama menjalani masa tahanan. Sementara itu, Herliana memaparkan topik “Proses Mengajukan Gugatan Perdata setelah Perkara Pidana Inkracht” untuk memberikan wawasan terkait hukum acara perdata dalam hal mekanisme pengajuan gugatan perdata.

This legal counseling activity aligns with the Faculty of Law UGM’s commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions. By providing legal education to inmates, the program contributes to building inclusive and accessible legal institutions. Additionally, it reflects support for SDG Goal 4 on quality education by ensuring that all individuals, including vulnerable groups such as female inmates, have access to relevant and meaningful legal information. Through this educational approach, it is hoped that a more legally aware, just, and empowered society will emerge.
