The Dean of FH UGM, Dahliana Hasan, S.H., M.Tax., Ph.D., and the Head of the Training and Education Agency (Badan Diklat) of the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia (Kejaksaan RI), Tony Tribagus Spontana, S.H., M.Hum., signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. The agreement concerns organizing a cooperative education class for Attorney General's Office employees within the Doctoral Program in Law at FH UGM, and the signing took place in the Auditorium of Building B at FH UGM.
The event opened with remarks from the FH UGM Dean. In her remarks, Dahliana Hasan expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Head of the Attorney General's Office Training Agency for considering an expansion of the cooperation agreement with FH UGM to include doctoral-level education.
“Because education is also an inevitability for developing knowledge. Sometimes in practice, it does not align with theory. Now, this is a gap that can be researched to develop the knowledge that has been gained and to contribute to the community,” said Dahliana Hasan.
Remarks then continued from the Vice Rector for Research, Business Development, and Cooperation, Ignatius Susatyo Wijoyo, M.M. He expressed hope that, through this cooperation, both the Attorney General's Office and UGM could learn from exchange feedback and each other.
"After all, learning is not one-way, but two-way. Discussions regarding the real situation in the field can enrich the knowledge of educators at UGM. Later, the results of these discussions can be developed into research regarding law in Indonesia or regulations that might need to be improved," said Ignatius Susatyo.
The event continued with remarks from the Head of the Attorney General's Office Training Agency, Tony Spontana, who expressed his hope that the Attorney General's Office could collaborate with UGM in preparing Indonesia's human resources, particularly in improving the competency of the Attorney General's Office's personnel.
"Future demands will be increasingly heavy if we are not strategically able to prepare prospective public prosecutors who possess high competence and scientific knowledge. Moreover, the Indonesian Prosecutors Association is part of the International Association of Prosecutors, which maintains very high standards. This learning opportunity is not without its price; rather, there is a moral obligation to contribute to the glory of the prosecutor’s office as we move toward an advanced Indonesia," said Tony Spontana in his remarks.
