The UGM Faculty of Law, in collaboration with its Legal Consultation and Assistance Centre (PKBH) and the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati DIY), recently held a legal outreach session at Bandung Village, Gunungkidul. The session, held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, formed part of the Datun Suluh Praja program initiated by Kejati DIY.
In this session, Andy Omara, S.H., M.Pub.&Int.Law., Ph.D. and Florencia Irena Gunawan, S.H., LL.M. (Adv) served as the main speakers. The resource persons explained issues relating to "Land and Building Tax and Its Connection to Constitutional Law," a topic of central concern to the local village. Both resource persons addressed the legal issues in keeping with the predetermined theme and provided comprehensive responses to the legal problems faced by residents of Baleharjo Village.
This collaboration under the Suluh Praja program is the result of a partnership between the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and Kejati DIY, ongoing for the past two years. The Suluh Praja program aims to strengthen legal outreach activities by focusing on topics chosen by grassroots communities, who often struggle to access legal information. This initiative reflects Universitas Gadjah Mada's commitment to supporting the community. It is also a form of support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) -- specifically Goal 1, which relates to reducing poverty and providing the community with better access to fair and equitable legal services.
