Department of Tax Law Launches the Law and Taxation Journal

On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, the Department of Tax Law proudly launched a new academic journal titled Law and Taxation in Yogyakarta. The journal is designed to focus on tax law scholarship across local, national, and international contexts. Its inaugural edition covers a range of topics, from income tax schemes for persons with disabilities to the regulation of general anti-avoidance rules (GAAR) in Indonesia.

Dean Dahliana Hasan, S.H., M.Tax., Ph.D., welcomed the launch warmly. "We are proud to announce the publication of the Law and Taxation journal by the Department of Tax Law at the UGM Faculty of Law. This journal is a space for us to better understand and respond to the increasingly complex challenges in the field of tax law. We hope it will develop critical and innovative scholarship in taxation," Dahliana Hasan stated.

The launch of this journal reflects the commitment of the UGM Faculty of Law to supporting academic scholarship and contributing meaningfully to tax policy development in Indonesia. The Law and Taxation Journal is expected to become a leading reference in the development of tax law studies in Indonesia and to make a significant contribution to the country’s taxation landscape.

The first edition features contributions from various academics and practitioners, offering comprehensive perspectives on contemporary issues in tax law. Topics such as the impact of tax policies on marginalized groups and the effectiveness of current tax regulations are explored, reflecting the journal’s commitment to inclusivity and social justice.

As the journal continues to develop, it is expected not only to enrich the academic landscape of tax law in Indonesia, but also to inspire future generations of legal scholars and practitioners. The Law and Taxation Journal stands as a testament to UGM’s dedication to advancing education and research in the field of tax law.

In conclusion, the launch of the Law and Taxation Journal marks an important milestone for the Department of Tax Law at UGM. It reflects a strong spirit of academic inquiry and the pursuit of knowledge, ultimately contributing to the advancement of tax policy and legal education in Indonesia.
