The Satria Paramartha Moot Court Community (Sparta) of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM), once again hosted the MCC Bulaksumur National Civil Moot Court Competition. This year marked the third edition of the biennial competition, following its successful editions in 2012 and 2014. The MCC Bulaksumur III series of events took place from 18–21 November 2016, with 16 delegations from universities across Indonesia competing for the championship title.
A strong Javanese atmosphere was evident at the closing ceremony, the highlight of MCC Bulaksumur III, on Sunday (20/11). The Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) delegation emerged as the first-place winner. Universitas Katolik Parahyangan took second place, while Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) secured third place.
In addition to the overall rankings, the 16 delegations also competed for various individual awards. Along with the challenge trophy, Unpad won awards for Best Witness, Best Expert, and Best Defendant. Unnes also took home awards for Best Case File, Best Court Clerk, and Best Judges’ Panel. The Best Plaintiff award went to the Universitas Diponegoro delegation.
In his closing remarks, MCC Bulaksumur III Chair Ryanski Y. A. Tucunan expressed hope that the competition would serve as a platform for the participating delegations to develop into students of integrity who can contribute to building a better Indonesia.
“May your achievements motivate you to continue growing and improving your skills,” said Ryanski.
MCC Bulaksumur III was symbolically closed by Dr. Sulastriyono, S.H., M.Si., Vice Dean for Research and Community Service at FH UGM, representing the Dean of FH UGM. He expressed hope that the competition would equip students with general knowledge, practical skills, and the values that must be upheld in the practice of law enforcement.
“To become good law enforcers, we must have strong values,” Sulas said in his remarks. (Lita)
