The UGM Faculty of Law delegation has once again made its mark on the national competition stage, winning First Place and the Best Contract Award at the Contract Drafting and Negotiation Competition Trisakti Business Law Fair II, organized by the Faculty of Law, Universitas Trisakti, on July 12, 2024. The winning team comprised Najla Nazhira Chairani (2021 cohort), Iona Fahriyah (2021 cohort), Nurmala Sari Drajati (2021 cohort), Demas Naufal (2022 cohort), Ahmad Lutfi Alfajar (2022 cohort), and William Alexander (2022 cohort).
The delegation was coached by lecturer Virga Dwi Efendi, S.H., LL.M. Competing against 32 delegations from 14 universities, the team navigated a two-stage competition: a preliminary round involving the drafting of a contract document, followed by a final round consisting of a simulated negotiation.
The competition's theme "Import Activities for New and Renewable Energy Development in the Residential Segment at the Nusantara Capital City" challenged delegates to draft a joint venture contract for the establishment of a solar panel manufacturing facility. The team incorporated relevant industry frameworks, including the Domestic Component Level (Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri/TKDN) requirements and renewable energy infrastructure development standards demonstrating a nuanced grasp of the subject matter in line with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy).
Remarkably, the delegation registered independently and achieved these results despite balancing multiple commitments, including the Community Service and Learning Program (KKN-PPM) and internships. Their success speaks to the dedication and hard work of the delegates, along with the generous support and encouragement they received from many quarters. The delegation hopes that this achievement will inspire future UGM Faculty of Law students to continue bringing honor to their alma mater, both nationally and internationally.
