The delegation from the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), achieved 3rd place in the Legal Opinion Competition during National Law Week 2023 at Universitas Sebelas Maret. The delegation consisted of Mohammad Didi Ardiansah (2020) and Afnan Zahidatush Sholihah (2021), accompanied by Muh Faqihuddin Minasta (2020) as the official. The team was mentored by Dr. Sigid Riyanto S.H., M.Si.
National Law Week is organized by the “Principium” Research Study Group of the Faculty of Law Universitas Sebelas Maret every two years. This competition features three categories: Legal Opinion, Contract Drafting, and Scientific Writing Competition. This year, the National Law Week adopted the overarching theme “Intertwined Challenges and Identifying Solutions for Legal Reform in the Era of Triple Disruption.”
In the Legal Opinion category, the main issue raised was “Money Laundering Crimes.” This category consisted of two rounds: the document qualification round and the final round. The document qualification round, held from Saturday (July 29, 2023) to Thursday (September 14, 2023), was participated in by 21 teams from various universities in Indonesia. In this round, the delegation managed to outshine 16 other teams and advanced to the final round with four other top teams. In the final round, the delegation presented their Legal Opinion work in front of the jury panel. In this final round, the delegation successfully secured 3rd place.
In addition to winning 3rd place, the UGM Law Faculty delegation also received the Overall Champion award in National Law Week 2023. This was based on the total accumulation of points across all competition categories participated in by various delegations from the UGM Law Faculty, including 1st Place in Contract Drafting, 2nd Place in Contract Drafting, and the Best Contract Award. With these achievements, the UGM Law Faculty delegation successfully brought home the Prof. K.G.P.H Haryo Mataram S.H. Trophy.
