The UGM Faculty of Law delegation has claimed first place and the Best Paper award in the Scientific Paper Competition (Lomba Karya Tulis Ilmiah/LKTI) category at UIN Law Fair VII 2024. Competing under the name Team Empedocles, the delegation comprised Andi Sitti Ainy Nur Alifah (Class of 2022), Lusia Rina Wulandari (Class of 2022), and Maylani Sri Maharani (Class of 2022). The team was also accompanied by Sinta Falentina (Class of 2023) as the Official Team representative. Throughout the competition, Team Empedocles was guided by Virga Dwi Efendi, S.H., LL.M., who served as their faculty supervisor.
The Scientific Paper Competition is one of several categories in the UIN Law Fair VII 2024 series of events. UIN Law Fair VII 2024 was held under the overarching theme "Legal Development in Accelerating Constitutional Values in the Era of Political Transformation Toward a Golden Indonesia 2045," with the goal of serving as a platform to actualize an inclusive and sustainable legal vision one that goes beyond formal-legal aspects to also consider ethical, social, and environmental dimensions. The LKTI category entered by the UGM Faculty of Law delegation was structured in two rounds: a preliminary round held online and a final round held in person. A total of 18 teams from universities across Indonesia took part, from which the five highest-scoring teams were selected to advance to the final round, hosted by the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
Beyond the LKTI category, another UGM Faculty of Law delegation also secured third place in the National Law Debate competition. As a result of the cumulative points across all competition categories, the UGM Faculty of Law delegation was awarded the Overall Championship the Constitutional Court Rotating Trophy at UIN Law Fair VII 2024. All members of the delegation are deeply grateful and extend their sincerest thanks for the support and prayers that made this achievement possible. It is their hope that this success will serve as a source of motivation for UGM students to pursue excellence with renewed enthusiasm not only in the field of law, but across all disciplines.
