The Notary Public Student Association (KMN) of the UGM Faculty of Law, in collaboration with the Notary Public Student Association (IMNO) of the Padjadjaran University Faculty of Law, successfully organized a campus visit and seminar titled “The Role of Notaries in Indonesia’s Creative Economy: Intellectual Property Rights as Collateral for Fiduciary Security.” The event took place in Room III.1.1 of Building III at the UGM Faculty of Law on Thursday (September 25, 2025). It was attended by approximately 100 participants from various backgrounds, including members of the KMN at the UGM Faculty of Law, the IMNO at the Padjadjaran University Faculty of Law, and students in the Master’s Program in Notarial Studies at the UGM Faculty of Law.
The event opened with the singing of the national anthem “Indonesia Raya,” followed by opening remarks from Dr. Destri Budi Nugraheni, S.H., M.S.I., Head of the Master’s Program in Notarial Law at the UGM Faculty of Law, and Dr. Anita Afriana, S.H., M.H., Head of the Master’s Program in Notarial Law at the Faculty of Law, Padjadjaran University. The seminar session was moderated by Dita Elvia Kusuma Putri, S.H., M.Kn., who introduced the participants to presentations by two main speakers from the academic community.
The first speaker, Dr. Ninik Darmini, S.H., M.Hum. (Lecturer in the Master’s Program in Notarial Law at the Faculty of Law, UGM), presented on “Opportunities, Regulations, and Challenges in the Application of Fiduciary Security Interests to Intellectual Property Rights in Indonesia’s Creative Economy Sector.” Meanwhile, the second speaker, Prof. Dr. Lastuti Abubakar, S.H., M.H. (Lecturer in the Notarial Studies Master’s Program at the Faculty of Law, Padjadjaran University), presented on “An Analysis of the Notary’s Role in Ensuring Legal Certainty of Fiduciary Security Interests in Intellectual Property Rights: Alignment Between Regulations and Practice.”
The discussion session was interactive, with participants showing great enthusiasm. Various critical questions were raised and answered comprehensively by the speakers, deepening the participants’ understanding of the topics discussed. The event concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to the speakers and closing remarks by the host.
This Campus Visit and Seminar serve as a tangible manifestation of the UGM Faculty of Law’s Student Executive Board’s (KMN) commitment to enhancing students’ academic knowledge and professionalism, particularly in addressing legal issues in the fields of notarial practice and the creative economy.
This event also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), by improving legal literacy and strengthening the academic capacity of law students. Additionally, topics regarding intellectual property rights and fiduciary guarantees support SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by highlighting the role of law in strengthening the national creative economy sector. Meanwhile, the inter-university collaboration between UGM and Unpad reflects the spirit of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), which emphasizes the importance of collaboration in strengthening the legal education system and creating a just and sustainable economic ecosystem.
