Students from Faculty of Law UGM had an opportunity to participate in ALSA International Moot Court Competition (AIMCC) 2024. AIMCC 2024 itself is an annual international moot court competition where the participants can show their ability in legal writing and verbal argumentation in state investment dispute settlement court. ALSA International together with ALSA Sri Lanka held this year’s AIMCC. For this event, ALSA Sri Lanka was collaborating with Center for International Investment and Commercial Arbitration (CIICA) raised the theme: “Equality in Healthcare & Pharmaceutical Investor State Dispute Resolution”.
Overall, this competition was divided into 4 rounds, those were preliminary rounds, quarter finals, semi finals, and final round. ALSA LC UGM themselves sent 1 team that consisted of 5 members: Rafael Luiz (2021), Firos Justin Sumantri (2021), Eugenia Felicia Natiur Siregar (2022), Nizaria Anissa (2022), and Daffa Putra Suryono (2023). This team was accompanied by 3 coaches, Pawestri Nindyatami, Maria Bernadetha Molas Harman, and Kesia Jadelin. AIMCC 2024 was conducted for 4 days, started on Thursday (8/8/2024) and ended on Sunday (11/8/2024).
Even though the journey of ALSA LC UGM’s team stopped at the preliminary rounds, the participation of the delegate in AIMCC 2024 was expected to bring a new knowledge and could broaden their perspective and become a platform for them to develop their skill in writing and advocacy in international competition. AIMCC 2024 was also expected to become the platform for the delegation for exchanging their knowledge with the other countries, and to be a good example to be repeated in the future.
