The SPECIALITY delegation from the Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM) won third place in the UIN Law Fair VIII 2025 Legal Debate Competition. Not only that, but thanks to this achievement—combined with the victory of the FPPH PALAPA team from FH UGM in another competition category—the UGM Faculty of Law was named the Overall Champion. The competition was organized by the Faculty of Sharia and Law at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta on September 26–28, 2025.
The SPECIALITY team, consisting of Karima Zahra Nurmayati (2024), Putri Alya Syafiqa (2024), and Charles Julian (2024), delivered a stellar performance in addressing eight debate motions, all of which centered on current issues in constitutional law and public policy. These issues ranged from the dynamics of constitutional democracy and the ethical limits of power to institutional reform.
Through an argumentative approach grounded in the constitution, Constitutional Court rulings, and cross-national comparative analysis, the SPECIALITY team successfully demonstrated strong and substantive performance in every round. The debates were fiercely contested, but the ability of the UGM Faculty of Law delegation to present arguments with sharp legal logic, coupled with persuasive rhetoric, led them to secure third place.
Prestasi ini menjadi bukti nyata peran mahasiswa FH UGM dalam mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, memperkuat analisis hukum, dan melatih komunikasi publik berbasis etika dan nalar konstitusional. Lebih jauh, keberhasilan ini turut berkontribusi pada pencapaian Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), khususnya SDG 16 (Perdamaian, Keadilan, dan Kelembagaan yang Tangguh) dan SDG 17 (Kemitraan untuk Mencapai Tujuan), melalui penguatan kapasitas generasi muda hukum dalam memperjuangkan keadilan, transparansi, dan tata kelola yang demokratis.
