Business Law Community (BLC) The Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University held a BLC Visit to the Bank Indonesia (BI) Regional Representative Office in the Special Region of Yogyakarta with the theme “BINGO: Bank Indonesia Talks with the Community”. This event was held on Tuesday (June 3, 2025) and was attended by 40 UGM Law students with the aim of broadening their understanding of the role, functions, and strategic policies of Bank Indonesia as the central bank of the Republic of Indonesia.
The visit began with an office tour and continued with a presentation covering monetary policy, macroprudential policy, payment systems, and consumer protection in the financial sector. In addition, participants took part in an interactive Q&A session that addressed current issues, including developments in digital finance and Bank Indonesia’s strategic measures to address potential cybercrime. This visit provided a hands-on learning experience on how BI maintains the stability of the rupiah, regulates the national financial system, and builds public trust through financial literacy education. Additionally, participants gained insights into career opportunities at Bank Indonesia and the relevance of business law studies to central banking practices.
The BLC Visit program is closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, this initiative supports SDG 4: Quality Education by enhancing financial literacy and understanding of business law, gained directly from central bank practitioners. Second, this program contributes to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by providing insights into career prospects in the strategic financial sector while fostering students’ readiness to contribute to national economic stability. Third, by strengthening understanding of financial regulations, payment systems, and consumer protection, this activity aligns with SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions as it builds students’ awareness of the importance of transparent and accountable financial governance. Thus, the BLC Visit serves not only as an academic forum but also as a strategic medium for cultivating a new generation of law students who are critical, adaptive, and oriented toward sustainable development.
This activity is expected to serve as a first step for law students to gain a deeper understanding of the central banking sector while preparing themselves to face professional challenges. Through the BLC Visit program, the BLC at the Faculty of Law, UGM, serves as a platform for business law education that is adaptive, innovative, and focused on making tangible contributions to society and sustainable development.
