Legal Outreach Session Examines Land and Building Tax, Village-Owned Enterprises, and Online Gambling

"The maximum rate increase for Land and Building Tax (PBB) of 0.2% is set out in the Law on Regional Taxes and Levies (UU HKPD), compared to the previous Law on Regional Revenue and Regional Levies (UU PDRD)," explained Taufiq Adiyanto, S.H., LL.M. at the legal outreach session held at Bandung Village, Gunungkidul.

This legal outreach session was held by the UGM Faculty of Law in collaboration with its Legal Consultation and Assistance Centre (PKBH) and Kejati DIY on Thursday, October 26, 2023.

Alongside Taufiq Adiyanto, S.H., LL.M., the session was also attended by Dr. Agustina Merdekawati, S.H., LL.M. and Dr. Destri Budi Nugraheni, S.H., M.S.I. All three resource persons provided explanation on issues relating to "Land and Building Tax, Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), and Online Gambling." These issues are a primary concern within the local community. All resource persons collaborated to explain the legal issues in line with the predetermined theme, and were also sure to provide comprehensive responses to the legal problems faced by residents of Bandung Village.

This Suluh Praja program is the result of a collaboration between various parties at the UGM Faculty of Law and Kejati DIY, ongoing for the past two years. The Suluh Praja program aims to strengthen legal outreach activities by focusing on topics chosen by communities who often have limited access to legal information. This initiative reflects UGM's commitment to contributing to society while supporting the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this case, this includes Goal 1 of the SDGs, relating to poverty alleviation and improving public access to fair and equitable legal services.
