Suluh Praja Legal Outreach Collaboration at Lohgandeng Village

Thursday (October 26, 2023) -- The UGM Faculty of Law, through its Legal Consultation and Assistance Centre (PKBH), in collaboration with Kejati DIY, conducted a legal outreach session at Lohgandeng Village, Gunungkidul. This legal outreach session was held as part of the Datun Suluh Praja program of Kejati DIY.

The session was led by two resource persons, both academics from the UGM Faculty of Law: Dr. Ninik Darmini, S.H., M.Hum. and Virga Dwi Efendi, S.H., LL.M. The topic addressed in this session was an issue of primary concern in Lohgandeng Village: "Licensing for the Management of Village Cash Land."

In his presentation, Virga Dwi Efendi, S.H., LL.M. stated, "Licensing for the use of village cash land must be accompanied by a permit from the Sultanate." Beyond addressing village cash land licensing, the resource persons also answered all questions raised by participants regarding legal issues facing Lohgandeng Village.

This collaboration under the Suluh Praja program is the result of a partnership between the UGM Faculty of Law and Kejati DIY, ongoing for the past two years. The program reflects the UGM Faculty of Law's commitment to community service in fulfillment of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, while also supporting the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Suluh Praja program aims to strengthen legal outreach by focusing on topics chosen by grassroots communities with limited access to legal information, using a bottom-up approach -- ultimately contributing to poverty alleviation and improved community access to fair and equitable legal services, in line with the first SDG goal.
