Workshop on Thesis and Legal Journal Writing: Faculty of Law UGM Master’s Program in Law’s Efforts to Improve Educational Quality and Academic Contributions

Master of Law Study Program just held a Thesis Writing & Legal Journal Workshop on Monday (2/9/24). This event was held in-person at Building B Auditorium Faculty of Law UGM. The Thesis Writing Workshop was a routine agenda that was conducted every semester by the Master of Law Program with the intention to assist the students from both international (LLM) and regular program in preparing their thesis or journal as the final assignment. For the next academic year, students are only obliged to submit the final assignment in a form of thesis, but there is an alternative option to submit a legal journal. The students warmly welcomed the new option for the final assessment,

This workshop consisted of several sessions. The first session was presented by Sri Wiyanti Eddyono, S.H., LL.M.(HR), Ph.D. that discussed the reflection on the Graduate Legal Research and provided the explanation about the Thesis & Journal Writing Guidelines for MIH and Master of Laws program. Meanwhile, in the second session, the Study Program Secretary, Rangga Aditya Dachlan, D.Phil., discussed research, and writing theses or legal journals in accordance with postgraduate legal writing standards. The final session was moderated by Bernadus Purnawan, S.S., who outlined the system and stages for submitting theses and legal journals.

The enthusiasm of the workshop participants was evident in the numerous questions asked during the question-and-answer session. The speakers provided clear and comprehensive answers. During the focus group discussion, moderated by Masna Nuross, S.H., and facilitated by Umar Mubdi, S.H., M.A., students enthusiastically shared their progress, interests, and challenges in writing their theses. The results of these discussions then served as evaluation material for the Master of Law Study Program at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University (UGM).

This workshop reflects the commitment of the Master of Law Study Program, Faculty of Law, UGM and all students to improve the quality of education, in line with the fourth point of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely improving the quality of the learning process and thesis preparation which is expected to provide a broader contribution to society.
