The Prof. A.G. Pringgodigdo National Moot Court Competition (NMCC) is the only commercial moot court competition in Indonesia and is held every two years. In 2017, Universitas Airlangga hosted the sixth edition of the NMCC, featuring bankruptcy as the theme in the preliminary rounds and an intellectual property dispute concerning trademarks in the final round.
For this competition, the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada, sent an 18-member team that trained for approximately six months. After classes, the team members trained both on campus and at the Yogyakarta District Court under the guidance of Prof. Tata Wijayanta. Their preparation covered everything from case file preparation to conducting mock hearings for both bankruptcy and trademark cases.
According to delegation leader Robiatul Adawiyah, the team’s biggest challenge as the competition approached was the number of members who fell ill due to unpredictable weather. Nevertheless, the team was able to perform at its best through hard work and mutual trust, which strengthened their teamwork. Their efforts, along with the support of the FH UGM academic community and alumni, earned the NMCC team third place as well as two additional awards: Best Plaintiff and Best Court Clerk. – RA
