Suluh Praja Hadir di Kulon Progo: Bahas Hukum Perkawinan, Waris, dan Pajak UMKM

On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through its Legal Aid Consultation Center (PKBH), in collaboration with the High Prosecutor’s Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), successfully held a legal education activity titled “Suluh Praja” at the Grogol Village Office, Paliyan District, Gunungkidul Regency, DIY Province. This legal outreach program aimed to provide legal insights and knowledge to village officials and the surrounding community on common legal issues. This session of Suluh Praja carried the theme “Alternative Dispute Resolution and Inheritance Law,” which focused on educating participants about non-litigation dispute resolution mechanisms such as mediation and arbitration, as well as raising awareness on inheritance distribution based on prevailing legal systems.

The event began at 9:30 AM with opening remarks by Latip Wahyudi, representing the Head of Grogol Village, followed by a collective singing of the national anthem, Indonesia Raya. The session continued with a presentation by Anang Zaki Kurniawan, S.H., M.H., along with the team from the High Prosecutor’s Office of DIY, who explained the duties and functions of the civil and administrative law division within the Indonesian Prosecutor’s Office.

The legal education continued with a presentation from Dr. Muhaimin, S.H., M.Kn., a lecturer from the Faculty of Law UGM, who discussed “Alternative Dispute Resolution and Islamic Marriage & Inheritance Law,” providing insight into non-judicial dispute resolution and inheritance distribution under Islamic law. Another presentation was delivered by Dr. Agus Sudaryanto, S.H., M.Si., on “Customary Inheritance Law,” giving participants a broader perspective on inheritance practices within Indonesia’s customary legal systems. Both prosecutors and lecturers actively engaged in a discussion session with village officials during the Q&A segment.

The presentations were delivered interactively and engagingly, resulting in a productive discussion. The lecturers responded to participants' questions clearly and constructively. This legal outreach program is expected to contribute to achieving Goal 16 of the SDGs—promoting peace, justice, and strong institutions starting from the village level—as well as supporting Goal 17 by strengthening partnerships to achieve broader development goals.
