International Undergraduate Program

1. Study Plan Registration

Before the commence of a new semester each student must choose the courses they want to take by filling out a Study Plan (Kartu Rencana Studi/ KRS) via SIMASTER application or at https://simaster.ugm.ac.id/  including those students who had taken a course of  “Legal Research” in the previous semester. Each student can log onto the Portal using Single Sign On (SSO) account. The amount of credits a student may take in each semester (with the exception of the first semester) depends on their Grade Point Average (Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif/GPA/IP) obtained in the previous semester only, as formulated below:

  • GPA ≥ 3.00       : maximum 24 credits;
  • GPA 2.50-2.99 : maximum 21 credits;
  • GPA 2.00-2.49 : maximum 18 credits;
  • GPA 1.50-1.99  : maximum 15 credits; and
  • GPA ≤ 1.49       : maximum 12 credits.

Please note for a student whose University Registration Number (NIU) is ended with odd number (e.g. 1, 3, 5, 7, etc), s/he shall choose class A , and for a student whose NIU is ended with even number (e.g. 2, 4, 6, etc) s/he shall choose class B. In a certain circumstance that a student re-takes a course(s) in which the courses are scheduled at the same time, s/he is allowed to take a course regardless of her or his NIU.

5. Double Degree

One of the most significant advantages of being a student at IUP FH UGM is the availability of a dual degree opportunity. This means the exceptional IUP students have the chance to obtain two undergraduate degrees in law, one from UGM and one from a partner university abroad namely the School of Law at University of Maastricht, The Netherlands, without having to spend extra years. In approximately four years successful candidates will have obtained a Sarjana Hukum degree from UGM and a Legum Baccalaureus(Bachelor of Laws/LL.B.) from a partner university.

Joining Dual Degree program between FH UGM and School of Law in the University of Maastricht, The Netherlands will be a good opportunity for students to pursue. A student will get two valuable degrees effectively without losing time within four years.

Term of Study

In this Double Degree program a student will undergo first year of study at IUP FH UGM and then continue for two years at Maastricht University and spend one year again at IUP FH UGM. At the end of the term the graduate will be awarded two undergraduate degrees in law.

Please note that during the global pandemic nowadays, it is important to be understood that our partner universities may conduct the lectures either fully online or blended learning method.

Preliminary Notice Updated (7 May 2021): Although IUP already conducted an internal selection on April 2021 and nominated six students to join Double Degree Program, there is still possibility that IUP will conduct another internal selection on this May 2021, therefore for those students who are interested to join Double Degree Program are strongly encouraged to prepare the required documents below and to complete the online application form as soon as possible. Please note that at this moment IUP is still waiting affirmative confirmation from University  of Maastricht to conduct the second internal selection.

Procedure

To apply Dual Degree (DD) Program, a student shall have an outstanding performance in semester 1. The result of 2nd semester will be used as the final consideration to grant or not to grant the nomination to the applicant(s).

In order to be admitted for internal selection a student shall complete this following procedure;

  1. Complete offline Application form;
  2. Complete online Application ;
  3. Curriculum Vitae;
  4. Copy of student card;
  5. Study plan (KRS) of the current semester;
  6. Academic transcript with minimum GPA 3.2;
  7. Copy of TOEFL score with minimum 550 or IELTS with minimum score 6.5; It is advised that student(s) can prepare this result as early as possible (possible in semester 1).
  8. Motivation letter;
  9. Confidential reference form (to be written by a lecturer and send directly via email to iup.fh@ugm.ac.id);
  10. Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory 2  (MMPI 2) test result from hospital. For this result, IUP will only consider detail result which includes the scores/graphic and also the detail remarks issued by hospital.
  11. Copy of passport;
  12. A photograph;

After a student completes the application documents, IUP will conduct an internal selection process which consist of two tests namely Writing Test and Interview, and to be followed by nominating the candidates to partner university.

6. Exchange Program

It is a good opportunity for students in the Universitas Gadjah Mada to have experience studying in partner universities around the globe for one or two semesters.  To know UGM’s partner universities for joining an exchange program you may see at UGM International collaboration 

A student who are interested to join an exchange program at partner universities may check some information at https://oia.ugm.ac.id/ or https://iup.law.ugm.ac.id/ and if a student is required to have a nomination letter from Faculty, s/he shall make a request letter addressed to Dean of the Faculty and email to bernaduspurnawan@ugm.ac.id with its subject  “Request for Nomination Letter_Name_NIU” together with supporting documents such as;

  1. Current Curriculum Vitae
  2. Current Academic Transcript
  3. Current KRS
  4. Brochure or any information about the program including the link of the website
  5. International exposure experience (if any)

7. Short Course

Short Courses which are admitted as international exposure shall comply with the following requirements.

  • The taken course shall have a tight correlation with the legal issues. It will be better if the course is fit with the student’s concentration study.
  • Besides, the course shall be offered by reputable and qualified institution, such as university (ex: University of Tokyo, Institute of Social Studies, International Anti-Corruption Academy, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, etc); AND/OR International NGO (such as: Transparency International, Friends of the Earth, Amnesty International, etc); AND/OR reputable international organisation (like UN, OECD, WB, ASEAN etc).
  • Minimum duration of the international course shall be five days, as it is considered as the appropriate minimum time to enable the students engaging with the international communities.
  • Do not choose a course which is lower or higher than your academic qualification. There was an incident that IUP declined a student’s application because the course was intended for an advanced participant (mid-career of lawyers and researchers).
