Registration for Doctoral

The registration of students for the Doctoral Program in Law is conducted according to the schedule issued by Universitas Gadjah Mada. The Doctoral Program in Law does not offer admissions through a research-based

General requirements to apply for The Doctor in Law Study Program are:

  1. Certificate or proof of accreditation of the study program of the most recent degree. Hold a Bachelor of Laws (S.H./LL.B) degree or a Bachelor of Islamic Law/Sharia (S.H.I.) degree from a reputable university or law school in Indonesia or abroad proved by original diploma of the latest degree;
  2. Minimum Graduate GPA of:
    • ≥ 3,00 within the scale of 4 or equivalent, for applicants that graduated from Graduate Programs with A accreditation, or;
    • ≥ 3,25 within the scale of 4 or equivalent, for applicants that graduated from Graduate Programs with B accreditation.
  1. Study program accreditation certificate at the Masters level, with the following conditions:
    • The accreditation of the study program is the current accreditation evidenced by a scan of the accreditation certificate or screen capture of the accreditation from the website of the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT)/ LAM-PTKes which is still valid;
    • Study programs whose accreditation is in the process of being extended, evidenced by a receipt of submission of accreditation forms to BAN-PT / LAM-PTKes obtained from the relevant tertiary institution. A certificate from the relevant university is not sufficient;
    • Applicants of overseas graduates must have a diploma equalization decision letter from the Ministry of Education Research and Technology as a substitute for the accreditation certificate.
  1. Pass an Academic Potential Test with minimum score of:
    • 550 (PAPs by UGM);
    • 550 (TPDA PLTI), or;
    • 550 (TPA by BAPPENAS).
  1. Fulfill an English language proficiency standard, demonstrated by:
    • AcEPT UGM score of at least 268;
    • TOEP PLTI score of at least 500;
    • IELTS score of 5,5 on average;
    • TOEFL IBT score of at least 63; or
    • TOEFL ITP score of at least 500.
  1. Confidential recommendations letter from 2 (two) people who know the candidate Student at the previous level of education. Academic Supervisor and/or other people who are considered authorized, for example, the supervisor workplace of prospective students. The link to provide recommendations online will be sent by the UM UGM Committee to the recommender via email. Make sure the email address of the recommender is a valid and active valid and active.
  2. Specific Requirements: 
    • Dissertation research proposal that shows originality, problem and novelty of the research supplemented by current literature (also sent to email pdih.law@ugm.ac.id). Proposal for a dissertation research can be written in English.
    • Letter of intent to join the Doctor in Law Study Program (You can download the format in here).
  1. Study permission/assignment letter from the workplace institution for applicants who are already employed (You can download the format in here);
  2. Valid documents of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or Letter of Scholarship (only applicable for applicants of the partnership scheme).
  3. Document authenticity statement (You can download the format in here).
  4. Pass the following steps of selection;
    • verification of files uploaded by prospective students;
    • blind review of the feasibility proposals for student candidates; and
    • interview test (only for prospective students who pass the stages of file verification and review of proposal eligibility).
