Legal Counseling In The Effort To Develop A Law-aware Village In Collaboration With Desamind Chapter Malang In Kebobang Village

On Saturday, August 31, 2024, the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through the Center for Legal Aid Consultation (PKBH), conducted a legal counseling activity as part of efforts to develop a law-aware village in Kebobang Village, Wonosari District, Malang Regency, East Java Province. This legal counseling activity was carried out in the context of a community service collaboration with the Desamind Indonesia Foundation (Yayasan Indonesia Bercahaya), represented by Desamind Chapter Malang. In addition to fulfilling the community service aspect of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, this activity is also an effort by the Faculty of Law UGM to realize the 16th SDG by building inclusive institutions and the 17th SDG by fostering partnerships to achieve concrete and better goals.

The event was attended by representatives from the Faculty of Law UGM, including Dr. Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., LL.M., M.A., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Information Systems, as a representative of the Faculty of Law's deanery. Three lecturers also served as legal counseling speakers: Dr. Dra. Dani Krisnawati, S.H., M.Hum., Head of PKBH and a criminal law lecturer at UGM; Dr. Sartika Intaning Pradhani, S.H., M.H., Secretary II of PKBH and a customary law lecturer at UGM; and Muhammad Jibril, S.H., M.PrivateLaw., Secretary I of PKBH and a civil law lecturer at UGM. Dr. Dani Krisnawati delivered a legal counseling session on “Online Gambling,” Dr. Sartika Intaning Pradhani discussed “Child Marriage and Teenage Relationships,” and Muhammad Jibril presented on “Illegal Online Loans” to provide legal insights and understanding to the youth and community members of Kebobang Village on the dangers and legal aspects of online gambling, child marriage, teenage relationships, and illegal online loans.

The materials presented by the three speakers were packaged in an interactive and engaging manner, resulting in a well-conducted discussion with the counseling participants. The speakers also answered participants' questions clearly and with practical solutions. This legal counseling activity is expected to strengthen inclusive and peaceful communities, thereby realizing a law-aware village in Kebobang. The implementation of this activity also represents a strengthened collaborative synergy between the Faculty of Law UGM and its partner, Desamind Indonesia Foundation, in carrying out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in community service, ultimately improving legal services for communities in various regions of Indonesia.
