On Thursday (29/02/2022), Nglindur Subdistrict, Gunung Kidul, became the participant for the Suluh Praja legal counselling. This legal counselling was a form of collaboration between the Yogyakarta High Prosecutor’s Office and Faculty of Law UGM, located in Nglindur Subdistrict, DIY. This counselling was opened with the warn greeting from the Head of the Village, Muhammad Hanan Ansori, and explained about the importance of legal knowledge for the development of the community.
The participant were provided by the presentation on the main duties and functions of the civil and state administrative field by the High Prosecutor’s Office. They also provided the knowledge on the service mechanism by the JPN through SI-SuluhPraja, HaloJPN, or Whatsapp.
The lecturer from Faculty of Law UGM also contributed to this counselling. Dr. Destri Budi Nugraheni, S.H., M.Si., explained the material on the principles on the Islamic Inheritance Law. Meanwhile Herliana, S.H., M.ComLaw, Ph.D., explained about the alternative dispute resolution outside the litigation process.
The main agenda was carried out through the interactive discussion session. The questions from the participants such as Sutris as the sub district officials regarding the legal aid for the witness of unable cases and Bari’s question, the village element, regarding the adat sanction, enrich the knowledge on law and justice.
In the SDGs context, Sustainable Development Goals In the context of SDGs, this counselling session supports the realization of the 16th point on Justice and ensuring equal access to justice for everyone. Besides that, this activity also supports the realization of the 5th point of SDGs on Gender Equality with ensuring the equal legal protection for women.
“Communicating and collaborating with several parties becoming our strategic step in improving the legal knowledge for the people of the village,” said Muuhammad Hanan Ansori as the Head of the Nglindur Village.
Thus, this legal counseling is not only a step in community legal empowerment, but also a real contribution in creating a more just and sustainable society.
