To commemorate the 44th anniversary of Majestic-55 FH UGM (May 5), Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo—who is also an Honorary Member (ALB) of Majestic-55—participated in a symbolic tree-planting ceremony and bird release at the Mawar Gunung Ungaran Base Camp. This event was a collaboration between Majestic-55 and various relevant parties, such as the Central Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency, the Central Java Environment and Forestry Agency, Perhutani, and SAKPALA (Solidarity of Kaluwihan Youth for Nature).
About 200 tree seedlings were planted during this event, including kluwek, garu, banyan, and cinnamon seedlings. Meanwhile, 44 birds were released to symbolize Majestic-55’s age.
“This event is an expression of Majestic-55’s commitment to nature conservation. We also collaborated with several relevant parties, such as the BKSDA, the Central Java Environment and Forestry Agency, and Perhutani. Every May 5th, on Majestic-55’s anniversary, we celebrate in different locations. Today, I am hosting the event here in Central Java,” said Ganjar.
Ganjar Pranowo also expressed his joy that the event was attended by Majestic-55 members across generations. “Alhamdulillah, the turnout this time was extraordinary—from the founders to current members. It’s quite a complete gathering; there are even people who came all the way from Papua,” said Ganjar.
In addition to members of Majestic-55 from across generations, the event was also attended by the chairman of Kahgama, Prof. Paripurna P. Sugarda.
Ganjar said he was proud to have been a member of Majestic-55 and to have served as its chairman for two years, from 1988 to 1990. Ganjar hopes this event will inspire other nature lovers to continue preserving the environment.
“We’re trying to plant in a more focused and organized way, and we’re making sure the plants grow,” said Ganjar.
