UGM Faculty of Law students have once again brought honor to their alma mater in the Scientific Paper Competition at Islamic Law Fair 2020 (ILF 2020), held by the Faculty of Law, Universitas Diponegoro.
On August 22, 2020, two teams of UGM Faculty of Law students secured First Place, Second Place, and the Best Paper award in the Scientific Paper Competition at Islamic Law Fair 2020 (ILF 2020) -- held on a biennial basis by the Islamic Law Studies Student Activity Unit (UKM-F KSHI) at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Diponegoro. This year's theme was "Optimizing Innovative Public Services in the Era of the 4th Industrial Revolution within the Framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia."
Team Said Al Andalusi, representing Universitas Gadjah Mada, claimed First Place. The team comprised Vivin Purnamawati (FH UGM 2017), Yuliyanti Dyah Purnamasari (FH UGM 2017), and Ni Nengah Dhea Riska Putri Nandita (FH UGM 2017), under the supervision of Mohammad Ibrahim, S.H., LL.M. Team Ibnu Muqaffa, meanwhile, won Second Place and Best Paper. The team comprised Rizki Olivia Putri (FH UGM 2017), Dhea Aulia Itsnan (FH UGM 2017), and Zita Sekar Moda (FH UGM 2017), under the supervision of Anugrah Anditya, S.H., M.T. Both UGM teams were formed through the recruitment and training process run by the Forum for Legal Research and Writing (FPPH PALAPA) at the UGM Faculty of Law. As a result of these combined achievements, Universitas Gadjah Mada was named Overall Champion at the Islamic Law Fair competition at Universitas Diponegoro in 2020.
Over approximately two months, both teams conducted extensive research with Faculty of Law lecturers and court practitioners, gathering, reading, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from their findings alongside a thorough review of the literature. Although the ILF 2020 final was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this did not hinder the UGM Faculty of Law student teams from preparing comprehensively for the online final. This achievement is hoped to serve as a source of motivation and competitive spirit for other UGM Faculty of Law students to pursue excellence in both legal and non-legal fields, both nationally and internationally.
