The Department of Criminal Law at the UGM Faculty of Law, in collaboration with the Association of Criminal Law and Criminology Lecturers (ASPERHUPIKI) and the Human Resources Development Agency of the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia (BPSDM Hukum RI), organized a Workshop on the New Penal Code (KUHP) and New Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) from February 10–12, 2026, at the UGM Faculty of Law. The workshop was held under the theme "Harmonizing Paradigms and Principles in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law Education."
The workshop brought together a distinguished group of experts and academics, including Prof. Dr. Topo Santoso, Prof. Harkristuti Harkrisnowo, Fachrizal Afandi, Prof. Dr. Eddy O.S. Hiariej, Prof. Dr. Marcus Priyo Gunarto, Prof. Dr. Pujiyono, Dr. Muhammad Arif Setiawan, Dr. Febby M. Nelson, Dr. Ahmad Sofian, Dr. Muhammad Fatahillah Akbar, Sri Wiyanti Eddyono, and Dr. Chairul Huda. The resource persons addressed the renewal of paradigms in criminal law and criminal procedure law education in the context of implementing the new Penal Code and new Code of Criminal Procedure.
The workshop contributes to the achievement of SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the strengthening of curricula and academic capacity in the field of criminal law. It also supports SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by driving the harmonization of understanding and implementation of a criminal law that is more just, humane, and oriented toward the protection of human rights.
Through this academic forum, FH UGM reaffirms its commitment to supporting the renewal of a national legal system that is responsive and grounded in justice.
