First Day of MIH Orientation at the Faculty of Law, UGM: New Students Learn About the Curriculum, Policies, and Campus Units

The Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM), through the Master of Legal Studies (MIH) program, successfully held the first day of New Student Orientation for the 2025/2026 academic year on Wednesday (August 13, 2025). The event took place in person in Room V.1.1 and the Auditorium of Building B at FH UGM, attended by all new MIH students.

This orientation was designed to introduce the learning system, curriculum, academic and non-academic policies, and the academic culture of FH UGM. In addition, the event also aimed to equip new students with knowledge about campus facilities, ethics and conduct, as well as online legal research skills and the registration process—all to prepare them for university life.

The orientation opened with remarks from Sri Wiyanti Eddyono, S.H., LL.M. (H.R.), Ph.D., as Chair of the MIH Program. This was followed by Rangga A. Dachlan, S.H., LL.M., M.Phil., D.Phil., who introduced the program’s staff and demonstrated online research practices, while outlining the vision, mission, and academic policies of the MIH Program, as well as its non-academic policies, research initiatives, and community service programs; Bernadus Purnawan, S.S., explained the academic information system and student services; and Yuliana Setiyarini, S. Mn., discussed financial policies, library services, academic culture, and anti-plagiarism issues.

In addition to introducing the educational system and academic culture, this event also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The orientation supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing access to high-quality legal education, SDG 5 (Gender Equality) through the participation of faculty and students from diverse backgrounds, SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by providing equal opportunities to all students, and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by instilling the values of justice, ethics, and good academic governance.

Through this orientation, the UGM Faculty of Law reaffirms its commitment to producing Master of Law graduates who are outstanding, innovative, and competitive at both the national and global levels, as well as making tangible contributions to the development of legal scholarship and societal development.
