Chikita Handriana, a 2021 student at the UGM Faculty of Law, along with her team, held a legal outreach event titled “The Public’s Right to Clean and Safe Water in the Smart City Era and the Optimization of Smart Environment Use.” The event took place on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Patuk State Junior High School No. 1.
In an effort to provide a broader understanding of the public’s right to clean water, Chikita Handriana presented material covering the concept of the Smart Environment, as well as the public’s rights and obligations regarding water resources. The concept of the Smart Environment was the main focus in raising public awareness of the importance of optimizing technology to ensure the availability of clean water in the Smart City era.
The event began with an opening ceremony featuring remarks from the organizers. The educational material was presented in an interactive and practical manner to make it easier for the students of SMP Negeri 1 Patuk to understand. Participants actively engaged in the question-and-answer session, demonstrating their interest in simple legal issues relevant to their daily lives.
In addition to providing legal education, this initiative also aims to advance the goal of quality education in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4. Chikita Handriana, as a recipient of the 2023 Student Legal Education Grant program, is enthusiastically carrying out her program to make a positive contribution to the community, particularly regarding the right to clean water.
This activity is expected to raise public awareness of their right to clean water and the importance of managing the environment wisely. The implementation of technology in environmental management is expected to provide efficient and sustainable solutions for the future sustainability of water resources.
