UGM’s Faculty of Law Graduates 149 Undergraduates, Reinforcing Its Commitment to Quality Education and Sustainable Equity

The Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM) held the Graduation Ceremony for Undergraduate Students of the Third Graduation Period of the 2024/2025 Academic Year on Wednesday (August 27, 2025). The event was presided over by the Associate Dean for Research, Community Service, and Information Systems, Prof. Dr. Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., LL.M., M.A., who emphasized the importance of integrity and dedication among law graduates in facing global challenges. This moment is not only an academic celebration but also a milestone marking the beginning of the graduates’ contributions to national development.

The event then continued with the presentation of academic transcripts. Graduates who earned honors received their transcripts from Prof. Heribertus, followed by Dr. Wahyu Yun Santoso, S.H., M.Hum., LL.M., as Chair of the Law Program, and Dr. Dian Agung Wicaksono, S.H., LL.M., as Secretary of the Program. This presentation ceremony served as a tangible expression of appreciation for the students’ academic efforts that led to their successful attainment of bachelor’s degrees.

A total of 149 graduates were officially honored during this ceremony. Of this number, 126 received honors, while the remaining 23 received a “highly satisfactory” rating. These figures demonstrate the consistently high academic quality of UGM Law School graduates, further strengthening the university’s reputation for producing outstanding human resources.

The highest academic achievement was attained by Stephani Gabriella Wijayawati, who earned a perfect GPA of 4.00. Stephani was not only the top graduate but was also entrusted to deliver the commencement address on behalf of the graduates. In her speech, she expressed her gratitude and urged her peers to uphold academic excellence, integrity, and social responsibility within the community.

This graduation ceremony aligns with the spirit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education. Through inclusive, high-quality legal education that is relevant to the needs of the times, the UGM Faculty of Law is committed to equipping students with the academic skills and ethical character necessary to compete on a global scale. This serves as a crucial foundation for fostering a new generation of intelligent, critical-thinking, and principled leaders for the nation.

Furthermore, this event reinforces the UGM Faculty of Law’s contribution to SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. Law graduates are expected to become agents of change who promote the creation of a legal system that is fair, transparent, and serves the interests of the broader public. Armed with a solid foundation in legal knowledge, the graduates are ready to play a role in strengthening legal institutions and supporting the realization of a peaceful and just society.

The UGM Faculty of Law reaffirms its commitment to continuing to produce graduates who are not only academically outstanding but also committed to global sustainability. Through education, research, and community service, the faculty continues to strive to support the achievement of the SDGs as part of the university’s tangible contribution to the nation and the world. This cohort of graduates is expected to be part of the solution to global challenges by upholding the values of humanity, justice, and social responsibility.
