The Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM) continues to demonstrate its commitment to creating a sustainable campus environment by organizing campaigns promoting eco-friendly behavior. These activities are part of the faculty’s active support for the UGM Sustainability Campus Action 2025 program, a university-wide initiative aimed at fostering environmental awareness and integrating sustainability principles into all campus activities.
The campaign was carried out by placing stickers promoting energy and water conservation in various classrooms and faculty facilities. These stickers were placed on light switches, air conditioners, water dispensers, and sinks to remind users to turn off electrical appliances when not in use and to conserve water in their daily activities. This initiative is expected to reduce excessive energy consumption while minimizing the waste of water resources.
In addition, the UGM Faculty of Law also displayed posters encouraging carbon emission reduction on digital signage screens throughout the faculty. Through this digital technology-based communication approach, the campaign’s message can reach more members of the campus community, including students, faculty members, support staff, and faculty visitors.
This campaign aims to encourage simple behavioral changes that have a significant impact on environmental sustainability. The UGM Faculty of Law recognizes that sustainability stems not only from major policies but also from small, everyday actions taken by the entire academic community. Therefore, various visual communication strategies are being intensified to reinforce sustainability messages so they are conveyed clearly, engagingly, and memorably.
This campaign not only focuses on energy efficiency and emissions reduction, but also represents a concrete step by the faculty in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, this initiative contributes to SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) through calls for energy conservation, as well as SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by encouraging resource-efficient behaviors and reducing emissions.
Through this campaign, the UGM Faculty of Law reaffirms its commitment to creating a more efficient, low-emission, and sustainable campus environment. The faculty hopes that the message conveyed will spark simple yet impactful behavioral changes, so that the entire academic community can contribute to environmental sustainability in line with UGM’s vision as a green campus.
